As an Independent Scentsy Consultant/Director I feel compelled to share some common misconceptions about direct sales, specifically as related to my party plan business.
Common Fear About Selling
One common fear some of us have about direct sales is SALES! Many think they can’t sell or they’re afraid of selling. Based on my personal experience, I don’t believe sales experience is necessary, and here’s why. I started with Scentsy in December of 2009. As a mother of three, I had never been involved in any sales other than an occasional fundraiser here and there. My primary work experience as a child care provider did not require much in the way of sales, but I have changed lots of diapers! I only joined Scentsy because I’ve always loved candles and I adore the Scentsy fragrance delivery warmers and products. I did not join with the idea of selling, but it’s in my nature to share with my friends, so it’s all worked out.
Share Instead of Sell!
I started sharing the Scentsy products with my friends and family and something amazing happened. The people I shared with became excited and started buying my Scentsy products. Some of them actually joined Scentsy to be consultants also! The next thing I knew, I had regular customers and a team of consultants just like me. What’s even better, I’m earning income and it’s a little more than pocket change! As I said, I had no sales experience and would never try to force sell anything to anyone. With Scentsy, I’ve never had to do this. Not once! I’m having more fun than I could have imagined and my circle of friends and customers has grown, exponentially!
The Truth is, No Sales Experience is Needed
Some of the most successful consultants ever, started their business, unsure of themselves and didn’t believe they were cut out for sales of any type.
